Keeping in touch – taking emails a step further

There are many reasons why some people never move. This is a topic for later discussion, but for now lets focus on those individuals who do hop from country to country and make new homes in different countries and often on other continents. Are you one of those people whose address seems to be forever changing?

Luckily, for us expatriates we live in an era of technology when we do not have to rely on the regular mail any longer. Contact is at the tips of our fingers. E-mailing has become a favorite way of keeping in touch with friends and family for all peoples around the world, and specifically for expats. This tool has made the expat lifestyle so much more convenient, acceptable and viable. Family, friends and clients are just an email away.

However, emails are no longer enough. Hearing a voice is comforting and needed. It also puts the issue of distance into perspective. Yes, we may be on the other side of the world, but we are truly only a heartbeat or a phone call away. There is nothing better than surprising friends and family with a phone call just to chat or to wish them on special days. Also, in matter emergencies we need to be able to pick up the phone and make that connection without having to pay the earth for it.

Dear expats, we no longer need to worry about the expense of these calls. Can you imagine being able to call someone on the other side of the world and not have to pay for the call, not even a single cent? Believe it or not it is possible. Maybe some of you have heard about Skype and have been too wary to try it. Then again many of you may not have heard of these telephonic services that are readily available to us over the computer. Well, let me inform you that it works, it is cheap and it has changed the level of my communication with people around the world. I use Skype on a daily basis, sometimes three or four times a day. Because of Skype I am in regular phone contact with friends and family, I study internationally and I operate my business on a truly international level.

All you need is a computer. In fact you do not even need to have your own personal computer. Once you have an account set up, you can log into any and make your call. You will, however, need a need a fairly good headset and these do not cost an arm and a leg.

Go to Skype (skype.com) and download the program. It takes an easy 10 minutes. Set up your account and you are ready to make your calls. If the other person also has a Skype account, both parties involved do not pay a penny for the call. However, if you are calling to a regular land line or cell phone number you are charged for the call, but at an extremely low and very acceptable rate.

If you want to improve the quality of your communication as an expat, Skype or another such telephonic service, may just be your answer. Why not give it a try?

Driving Your Life On Its Way To Its Purpose

People live to exist and with existence along comes purpose. It is that one inevitable thing that every one yearns for. It is usually the only thing that is left missing in a lot of people’s lives. That’s why a lot of people now days cease to live their lives, and the main reason is? –They don’t have a purpose to do so.

You may think that finding that sole purpose in life is very much impossible. Then if that’s the case, you better think twice. There are ways to find what you are looking for if you look at the right places. It’s not that easy to find that purpose, but it is possible and having a life purpose coach would be of great help.

Defining Roles

In this kind of coaching program, you are able to sort out your life and seek out your purpose. It won’t be your coach who will find it but of course it would be you, because you are the only one capable of doing that, but you would need your coach to guide you through the process to see a clearer perspective of things.

No Arrows To Lead You

Sometimes you may feel that you are lost. You do daily tasks and activities just out of routine. There’s a big intersection ahead of you and you don’t know which direction to take or pursue.

In situations like these, your coach would be your guiding path. He would let you see the different routes you can take, the pros and cons of each direction and your means of going through that path.

When Everything Gets Stuck

On moments that you feel you are stuck with your life. When all aspects have seem to be successful yet there is no feeling of contentment or fulfillment at all. When you think that there is no more steps to take, your coach will be the one to show you that little extra step you need in finding what you are looking for.

Being Who You Really Are

Purpose is not dictated by the things that you do. Each of us has our own, and this is in our system from the day we are born. Sadly, a lot of factors in our lives are culprits on why it got lost. Factors such as family, peer, social, academic and even media influences us and makes us be unable to find our point of living.

Here, you get to honestly appraise your life and see what factors are over shadowing that purpose in you. In the process you get to know yourself even more. You see in a new light your beliefs, joys, sadness and what matters the most. It can be a scary process but in the end you get that enlightenment like no other.

You will be able to see what matters most. You get to set your real goals and aspirations. In a gradual process led by your coach, you can achieve them in no time.

Your inner dreams and real wanting in life could be revealed and trying to achieve that would lead to that sense of contentment for you. A new lay out of your life will be formed and this would bring you back the joy in living. That excitement that was lost would be found once again and you can start existing the way you are supposed to!

Acquire Power Through Self Development

It is the natural right of every human being to be happy to escape all the miseries of life. Happiness is the normal condition, as natural as the landscapes and the seasons. It is unnatural to suffer and it is only because of our ignorance that we do suffer. Happiness is the product of wisdom. To attain perfect wisdom, to comprehend fully the purpose of life, to realize completely the relationship of human beings to each other, is to put an end to all suffering, to escape every ill and evil that afflicts us. Perfect wisdom is unshadowed joy.

Why do we suffer in life? Because in the scheme of nature we are being forced forward in evolution and we lack the spiritual illumination that alone can light the way and enable us to move safely among the obstacles that lie before us. Usually we do not even see or suspect the presence of trouble until it suddenly leaps upon us like a concealed tiger. One day our family circle is complete and happy. A week later death has come and gone and joy is replaced with agony. Today we have a friend. Tomorrow he will be an enemy and we do not know why. A little while ago we had wealth and all material luxuries. There was a sudden change and now we have only poverty and misery and yet we seek in vain for a reason why this should be. Read more »

How to Give a Great Speech

I have learned from several thousand professional speakers “How to Give a Great Speech.” Here are some techniques that I share with my coaching clients who want to become paid professional speakers or business professionals who want to deliver masterful presentations.

1. Speak from the heart.
Believe in what you have to say, or don’t say it. If your passionate about your subject the words will come. Speak about the fundamental beliefs you have about life, the simple truths that you believe in with all your heart.

2. Write down two or three specific objectives you have for this speech.
Ask yourself, ‘What do you want the audience to do as a result of your speech? ‘Think differently? Act differently? Do something differently?

3. Write it out.
When you give a speech be sure that people need to hear what you have to say. Than you need to understand it so well that you could explain it to an eight-year-old You know, if you write it down enough times, than you will become familiar with it. Don’t read your speech if necessary, just read the lead sentences that you write ona three by five card.

4. Be present.
Connect with your audience in the first 60 seconds and than engage them throughout your speech. Once you get the audience rolling, be sure to embellish certain comments that you know are being well-received.

5. Know your audience.
Interview the program chair in advance to know who will be sitting in your audience and what they expect to hear from you. Are they men or women? What is the theme of the meeting or conference? What is their purpose in being there? Because that then becomes your purpose. Be sure to give your audiences not just what they want, but also what they need to hear. Read more »

Beyond the Work-Life Balance

Living through the Success Elements™

Much has been written about finding a harmonious balance between work and life, and this article does not intend to discredit any of it. It is essential to strike a balance between the professional and personal. True success is multidimensional, and if you focus exclusively on work your personal life suffers, and vice-versa. Limiting your perspective of success to the two dimensions of work and personal life can lead to a lack of balance within both professional and personal success. To separate life and work into disparate entities misses the point of true success.

The Success Elements™

There are elements of success that are the building blocks of professional and personal life. The Success Elements™ principle is founded on the four elements of Health, Wealth, Wisdom, and Relationships. By achieving balance in all of the Success Elements™, you can be assured that your success will transcend both your work life and personal life.

Applying the Success Elements™

The application of the Success Elements™ in your personal life is easy to see. If you focus on Wealth too heavily, your family life will suffer. If you neglect your Health, all other areas of life will suffer. Even focusing on Relationships too much-which on the surface seems laudable-can disrupt everything else.

So now that we have established that the Success Elements™ are applicable to your personal life, what about business? Read more »
